MorseLife Literary Society Presents Inaugural Season of Breakfasts with Celebrated Authors

West Palm Beach, FL (January 17, 2009) – More than 90 book lovers throughout Palm Beach County gathered on Thursday, January 15th at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach for the inaugural breakfast and talk with Nancy Horan, author of the best-selling novel, “Loving Frank.”

Nancy Horan spoke with enthusiasm about the fruition of her debut historical novel “Loving Frank” which delves into the relationship between legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright and Mamah Borthwick Cheney during the years 1907 – 1914. She talked about her seven years of meticulous research, which brought to life Wright and Cheney, both married to others, and the conflicts and sacrifices Mamah was forced to make as she grappled with her roles as mother, wife, lover and intellectual.

The MorseLife Literary Society continues in February and March with the following presentations:

Chris Bohjalian, author of Skeletons at the Feast
Thursday, February 19, 2009

For his eleventh novel, Bohjalian ambitiously tackles one of the most brutal periods in human history -- the last six month of World War II in Poland and the eastern edges of Germany -- while staying true to his universal theme of everyday people coping with extraordinary moral dilemmas.

Skeletons at the Feast was inspired in part by an actual diary a friend asked Bohjalian to read in 1998: it had been kept by his friend’s East Prussian grandmother from 1920 through 1945. A moving and rich tapestry that puts a very personal face on one of the greatest tragedies of the 20th century, this is the author’s best yet.

Rick Bragg, author of The Prince of Frogtown
Thursday, March 12, 2009

Rick Bragg is a journalist who won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing in 1996 for his work at The New York Times. He is the author of The Prince of Frogtown, All Over But the Shoutin,’ Ava’s Man , as well as three other books. His latest book documents a journey back in time to the lush Alabama landscape of Bragg’s youth, to the 101 year old mill, the town’s blight and salvation, and to a troubled, charismatic hustler coming of age in its shadow—Rick’s father, a man bound to bring harm even to those he truly loves.

With candor, insight, tremendous humor and the remarkable gift for descriptive storytelling on which he made his name, Rick Bragg delivers a brilliant and moving rumination on the lives of boys and men, a poignant reflection on what it means to be a father and a son.

All MorseLife Literary Society meetings will be held at The Colony Pavilion, 155 Hammon Avenue in Palm Beach with registration at 8:30 am and breakfast at 9:00 am. The cost is $125 for each event.
